It's a small wonder Romeo (Percy Miller) followed in the
footsteps of his father, rapper Master P. Master P is also the CEO of No
Limit Records a successful independent hip hop label. His uncle
worked for the record company too. At the age of four, Lil' Romeo
began appearing on his dad's records. He started his solo career at the
age of 10 and released his first CD, "Lil'
Romeo" in July 2001.
Master P realized his son's talent when he returned
home from a business trip and discovered Lil' Romeo had written a
rap. While growing up he had plenty of practice in the rhymin'
department from rapping with his cousins. "I think he took a lot
from everybody," says Master P of the family influence on his son.
"He took a lot of our style, put it together and came up with his
own style. He also has a lot of game that the average 10 year-old
wouldn't have."
Lil' Romeo urged his dad to get together with Diesel of Soulja Music
Productions and C-Los Beats. The result was the album, "Lil'
Romeo." The first single "My Baby" uses the song loop
from the Jackson 5 hit, "I Want You Back." Lil' Romeo
also teamed up for a duet with the other lil' guy in the biz
Bow Wow.
Besides rapping Lil' Romeo, now known simply as
Romeo, loves basketball. He
even went to the AAU national championships and impressed some of the
NBA guards by snatching MVP of the Michael Jordan basketball camp.
B-ball players, Stephon Marbury and Steve Francis have seen him and said
he has incredible ball handling skills. Even though he juggles his time
between music and basketball, he still manages to get straight A's in
school. His dad says, "His education comes before anything else."
